Quantum Sail Design Group is proud to announce the formation of a strategic partnership between Quantum Racing and Sebago®, the international marine footwear company. For the 2010 racing season, the Quantum race team will evaluate a new line of technical apparel and footwear developed by Sebago®. The gear will be worn during the highly competitive Audi MedCup Circuit, which is also used as a testing and validation platform for the Fusion M racing sails made by Quantum. Ed Reynolds, President of Quantum Sail Design Group, says the partnership expands on the Quantum Racing test team concept, which has been very successful in helping the company evaluate technological advancements in sail design and construction over the past two years. Explains Reynolds, "With over 400 hours of sailing in a full range of wind and sea conditions on all points of sail, the MedCup provides the most controlled way to gather data, verify performance targets, and identify areas for improvement. We will apply these same principles to the evaluation of the Sebago® products, providing them with honest feedback about the performance of their products in the harshest conditions." Adds Reynolds, "Everything matters on a race boat; even the smallest things can make the difference between winning and losing. We expect to get nothing but the best available equipment from Sebago® and we will work with them to make it even better." The new line of footwear and apparel developed by Sebago® includes performance as well as lifestyle sailing gear that will be worn by the team on and off the boat. The products will be co-branded with Quantum and made available to the public later in the season as part of the Sebago® Team Quantum Collection. Quantum Sail Design Group was formed in 1996 by a group of independent and experienced sailmakers. The firm has grown to more than 60 sales and service lofts and four manufacturing facilities throughout the world. Quantum is the second largest sail manufacturer in the world with US headquarters in Traverse City, Michigan and European headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. www.QuantumSails.com
